BBC police drama beats Married Single Other's 3.9m audience

LONDON - BBC One's police drama 'New Tricks' edged a lead over rival ITV1's 'Married Single Other' in the peaktime ratings battle last night.

The BBC One series, starring Amanda Redman, pulled in 4.2 million viewers between 9pm and 10pm, earning a 17.5% share of the audience.

Meanwhile, romantic comedy ‘Married Single Other’, starring Ralph Little and Lucy Davis, attracted 3.9 million viewers and a 16.4% share for ITV.

Channel 4’s peaktime offering ‘The Secret Millionaire’ drew 2.8 million (including the contribution from Channel 4 +1) and a 12% share, and BBC Two’s series ‘A Band for Britain’, which followed presenter Sue Perkins as she tried to turn around the fortunes of a brass band, drew 1.6 million viewers.

Five’s showing of classic western ‘For a Few Dollars More’ at 9pm pulled in 1.4 million viewers and an 8.2% share.
