BBC appoints Nicky Douglas to strategic marketing role

London - The BBC has appointed Nicky Douglas as director of marketing, communications & audiences (MC&A) for BBC Vision reporting directly into Sharon Baylay, director of MC&A at the BBC.

BBC appoints Nicky Douglas to strategic marketing role

Douglas was most recently a consultant for Turner Broadcasting and ESPN in Europe. She was previously senior vice president & managing director of Walt Disney Television in Asia Pacific.

She replaces Helen Kellie who joined BBC Worldwide earlier this year. On an interim bases Cary Wakefield was temporarily filling the post.

Taking up the post this month, she will help to shape the strategic brand direction for all BBC television channels and genres, apart from BBC News. This will be in line with the overall strategy for BBC MC&A.

Douglas will sit on the MC&A board and play a role in the strategic leadership and development of the division. She will work in close collaboration with Jana Bennett, director of vision and her management team.

Baylay said Douglas has a ‘wealth of experience of some of the world's foremost entertainment brands'.

While working at Walt Disney Television, Douglas was based in Hong Kong and was responsible for launching television channels and branded content, including High School Musical, across India, China, South East Asia and Australia.

Previously she was managing director at Nickelodeon UK and Vice President of marketing for Turner Entertainment Networks where she supported the launch of Cartoon Network and TNT/TCM across Europe.
