Radiohead are curating the BBC's digital music station under the heading 'The 6 Music Selector' from Monday December 22 to Sunday December 28 2003.
The band have raided the BBC archive for rare recordings, having worked their way through nearly 1,200 pages of data with more than 7,000 artists to make their selections.
Each member of the band has chosen tracks and supported them with their comments, which will filter through the seven days' output.
Highlights of the week's coverage include drummer Phil Selway and bassist Colin Greenwood joining Gideon Coe next Monday December 22, starting at 10am.
Radiohead fans will be able to hear two specially recorded acoustic numbers, 'Karma Police' and Neil Young's 'On the Beach' performed by lead singer Thom Yorke and guitarist Jonny Greenwood.
Guitarist Ed O'Brien selects his favourite tracks and chats to Craig Charles on Tuesday December 23 between 7am and 10am.
Yorke will also co-present the 'Tom Robinson Evening Sequence' on Wednesday December 23 from 7pm, selecting his favourite tracks.
Liz Kershaw has Greenwood into the studio in her lunchtime show on Friday December 26 from 1pm, where he will share a boxful of vinyl he has collected on his travels.
In addition, Yorke will select his favourite concerts and sessions from the BBC archive from the past 40 years for the 'Dream Ticket', which runs Monday to Thursday from 10pm to midnight.
The band have also selected the five Albums of the Day for the week, which include Sonic Youth's album 'Goo', chosen by Jonny Greenwood; 'If You're into It I'm Out of It' by electronica and hardcore techno artist Christoph De Babylon chosen by Yorke and legendary soul singer Al Green's 'Livin' for You' chosen by Greenwood.
At the special request of Radiohead, "beat-maverick, scratch DJ and doodler" Kid Koala performs a live session from the BBC's Maida Vale Studios, which can be heard on Sunday December 24 from 7pm.
John Sugar, programme editor at 6 Music, said: "It will be exciting for our listeners to hear what Radiohead do with this creative freedom and what it reveals about the group's personal taste and influences."
