Basketball Arena set to be biggest-ever temporary Olympic venue

The 12,000-capacity Basketball Arena will be located within London's Olympic Park and will house the sport's preliminaries and quarter-finals, as well as the handball semi-finals and finals, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby.

Glasgow-based Barr Construction has already carried out some preparatory investigations for the foundations and will start erecting the main structure of the arena in spring.

The Scottish contractor will rent out the temporary venue to the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) for the duration of the Games, later dismantling it and removing it from site to be reused elsewhere.
