Barnardo's "Komodo" by FCB Inferno

Barnardo's latest spot brings to light the issue of child sexual abuse.

"We started off just messaging," a young girl says as she recounts her experience of being sexually abused when she was 14. While she speaks, a Komodo dragon makes its way into her bedroom, climbing onto her bed before the lights switch off. The ad ends as the girl says Barnardo’s has helped her "feel a bit more like [herself] again".

This is the second instalment of the charity’s "Believe in me" campaign, which first launched in 2016. Barnardo's consulted staff working in children’s services to ensure the protagonist’s emotions are represented authentically, while the Komodo dragon itself is a metaphor for the horrors of sexual abuse.

Last September, Barnardo’s released an ad featuring CGI Hyenas to highlight the perils of online bullying.
