The new deal will mean that the bank will be the longest-serving sponsor of the Premiership, first committing during the 2001 series.
In addition to securing the Premier League global title sponsorship rights, Barclays will also sponsor the Premier League's official pre-season tournament, the Premier League Asia Trophy.
Bob Diamond, Barclays president, said: "I see the sponsorship of the world's best football league as a major strategic investment. We all know about the fantastic appeal of the Barclays Premiership in the UK but this sponsorship also fits our international presence and aspirations, particularly in Asia and continental Europe. It provides us with powerful brand visibility in the many markets around the world in which we operate."
By the end of this new sponsorship, Barclays will have been Premier League sponsors for nine years, from 2001 to 2010, which Gary Hoffman, Barclays vice-chairman, said showed the group's "long-term commitment to the game."
Barclays most recently promoted its sponsorship of the Premiership through an ad campaign featuring comedian Rory McGrath, who takes to the field at Arsenal wearing Thierry Henry's shirt.
The ad promoted Premier League "Football contracts", which would reward Barclays customers by entering them in a prize draw every time they use their Connect current account debit card.
In February, the bank ran a series of ads promoting its sponsorship starring Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and Sam Allardyce, who were shown with a group of primary school kids, berating their poor performance on the football field.
The ads were created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty, to promote Barclays' Premiership "Money can't buy" football prizes, which were being offered via Barclays cash machines.
At the end of last year, the advertiser used a series of television spots starring the former Newcastle United manager Bobby Robson who, along with former Southampton manager Gordon Strachan, highlighted a free Premiership ticket promotion.
Richard Scudamore, Premier League chief executive, said: "Barclays' commitment to the Premier League has been unstinting and this latest deal will make Barclays Group our longest serving title sponsor.
"In that time, the Premier League has continued to grow and develop both domestically and internationally, which has matched Barclays' own business plan and aspirations."
