In the style of Vanity Fair's annual Hollywood edition, the three-fold cover features the entire band standing on a beach. Usually bedecked in white robes, the 24 members of the Polyphonic Spree agreed to don red robes for the shoot.
Bang magazine had access to the Texan band on their recent tour of the UK and the US, and the article appears just as the Polyphonic Spree return to these shores for a tour of the summer of festivals and the launch of their new album.
Crispin Parry and Danny Ford, aka the Gloom Brothers and editors of Bang, said: "We've been there since the beginning for a lot of the new breed of bands like the Polyphonic Spree and that has given us unparalleled access and insight into their world."
Bang launched in March this year. The latest issue, on sale on May 23, will also feature Eels, The Datsuns, Lee Scratch Perry and The White Stripes.
"We see Bang's role as defining the current music scene for our readers and we want to do this in the most interesting way possible. The photograph clearly illustrates the extraordinary access we had to the Polyphonic Spree, even to the point where they would change their virgin white image just for us," the Gloom Brothers said.
