Bailey lures former IPC colleague Dove to Trinity Mirror

LONDON – Trinity Mirror chief executive Sly Bailey has made the first hiring from her old company IPC Media, appointing Clare Dove as director of advertising across the national newspaper division.

As director of advertising across Trinity Mirror's national titles The Mirror, the Sunday Mirror and The People, Dove will oversee the title's advertising operations.

Dove said: "Trinity Mirror's national titles are huge brands and it's a real privilege to be leading their ad sales team. I can't wait to take up the challenge."

Dove slipped quietly from her post as group advertisement director of IPC Southbank, home of Marie Claire and In Style, in September.

Her departure was attributed to "personal issues" at the time, and was largely unreported in the press.

She joins Trinity Mirror on January 1, reprting to MGN general manager Ellis Watson.

Watson said: "Clare is a highly talented and experienced media executive, with an outstanding track record in advertising sales management. Her skills, drive and vision will be key assets as our national sales operation goes forward.

"Clare joins an exceptional advertising management team at MGN -- together they'll be a formidable combination," he said.

During 15 years in the media industry, Dove has worked for various

organisations including the Guardian Newspaper Group, Gruner+Jahr and Capital Radio.

Before her promotion to group ad director of IPC Southbank, Dove was acting ad director of IPC's former fashion group division. At Southbank, Dove was responsible for 17 titles, including Marie Claire, Homes & Gardens, Woman & Home and In Style.

She was replaced at the division by Mark Reen, who moved from the same post at IPC Connect and TX, its respective women's and TV listings divisions.

This triggered a shake-up of the management of IPC Advertising, which is overseen by managing director Georgina Crace, also managing director of the Wallpaper Group.
