The ‘Heathrow Travel Product Awards' will celebrate pioneering products available at Heathrow, nominated by the retailers and voted for by the public.

There are 12 categories in total, including best books, luggage and souvenirs. Brands such as Mulberry, Harrods and Sony are expected to be among the winners, which will be announced in early May.

Nick Adderley, the BAA marketing and insight director, said: ‘Knowing these products are voted for by our customers and therefore come highly recommended ensures we can be confident in giving our passengers a great shopping experience at Heathrow'.

The Competition Commission recently ruled that BAA must sell Stansted and Gatwick Airport, plus one of its two airports in Scotland at Edinburgh or Glasgow.
