B2B International announced it was launching in the Chinese market in September. The opening of the office coincides with the firm being asked to contribute to the Chinese Market Research Association conference aimed at the Chinese banking sector.
The office is being headed up by general manager Alaric Fairbanks, whose previous role was head of Asian Research at B2B International in the UK. Before that he international programmes director at Durham Business School, focusing on consultancy and research in emerging markets, particularly in China, where he was responsible for establishing six business consultancies in a joint Sino-UK project. Fairbanks previously lived in China, from 1994 to 1999, working for the engineering multinational ABB.
The conference was attended by figures from the burgeoning and increasingly deregulated Chinese banking industry, including the big four Chinese banks, key banking experts and industry journalists. The conference was looking at how to better understand the opportunities to conduct market research in the financial sector.
According to Fairbanks: "We have immense experience of market research and marketing consultancy in the banking sector, in Asia and Europe alike, and we were extremely pleased that this expertise was recognised by CMRA and were given the opportunity to display our knowledge to such an important target audience.
"The financial sector is one of the industries where research is booming in China and a sector where we see ourselves increasingly offering our services."
