Avis names head to lead retail and marketing teams

Avis, Europe's biggest car rental firm, has merged its UK marketing and retail teams, following the departure of head of marketing Susan Yallop earlier this year.

It is not known whether Yallop, who joined Avis in August 2001, had a job to go to. To replace her, Avis has appointed Sarah Kadodwala to head both its marketing and retail teams in the position of head of retail sales.

Kadodwala joins from the Caudwell Group, where she was regional sales director in its Phones 4u division. She reports to sales and marketing director Matt Andrews. Her responsibilities include marketing the business to UK consumers, as well as the fleet rental and business travel sides of the business. Kadodwala has also held positions at Alpha Retail, Asda and Ikea.

Avis uses Black Cat for its ads and MediaCom for its media planning and buying. The company has a number of airline partners, including British Airways and bmi british midland.

Andrews, who made the appointment, was poached from American Express last year (Marketing, July 25, 2002).
