Attheraces digital TV is available to subscribers to Sky's family package immediately. It will air 14 hours a day between 7am and 9pm, seven days a week, to the 6m Sky homes in the UK.
Racecourse operator Arena said it is still in negotiations with other digital broadcasters about further carriage deals.
Attheraces, formerly called Go Racing until the consortium discovered all the Go Racing web addresses had already been taken, was set up to increase live coverage of UK horse racing.
It aims to raise the profile of the sport and generate more revenue to be reinvested in it.
Brian Higgins, director of programming, said: "The attheraces digital channel aims to bring fresh impetus to the sport, breaking down traditional barriers and demystifying betting. Our schedule will provide live racing coverage from all 49 racecourses, reviews, previews, features and news from Britain and overseas.
"Our objective is to meet the demands of existing racing enthusiasts, as well as engaging the non-traditional racing audience through innovative, informative and compelling features fronted by our team of 10 presenters who combine youth and experience, and new and established faces."
The attheraces website went live in December, two months behind schedule. It aims to provide broadcast-quality pictures and live audio from the 49 UK racecourses that signed contracts with attheraces.
