Aspers says the requests were "primarily from corporates" from nearby Canary Wharf, and several enquires from agents. It also reports enquires from five "major shows" taking place at Excel in the first quarter of 2012.
The 6,000sqm venue is the UK’s largest casino and has event spaces overlooking the Olympic Stadium. It has three multipurpose spaces, two with capacities of 500 and one of 250. An unused area within the main casino could be developed into a specific venue for 2012 holding around 750 people, Aspers told Event.
The casino reported more than 75,000 visitors in its first two weeks of trading and said it is hiring an additional 30 staff to cope with the unexpected demand.
Aspers Group chief operating officer Richard Noble said the attendance figures and feedback confirmed Aspers as "an integral part of the event and entertainment offer within Westfield Stratford City".
