The retailer has developed a parcel collection and return service called ToYou which will be available  in all of its 614 stores.

The service which offers real time and individual parcel tracking will enable third party brands to use the service. Online only fashion brand Missguided is the first to sign up.

ToYou is owned and "powered" by Asda's parent company Walmart and the retailer hopes with 1.5bn parcels delivered each year in the UK, it could drive footfall to the tune of 40m extra visits in store by 2019.

Parcel collection accounts for over 10% of Asda’s online orders and the new service will enable it to improve the George.com offer, the business added. Enabling customers to collect other brands in store would give "shoppers more reasons to visit".

"Not only are we providing online retailers with a presence on the high street we’re also bridging a gap for customers who want to collect or return their online orders while carrying out their weekly shop," said Ian Stansfield, vice president Asda logistics services and supply chain.
