Clarke worked at the racecourse from 2007 to 2010, supervising the operational delivery of three successful Royal Ascots.

He left to become director for Delaware North Companies UK, where he headed up a newly formed division of travel and hospitality services.

Back at Ascot, he will lead a team of 52 full time members of hospitality staff, overseeing 255 private boxes, seven private members clubs and 17 hospitality restaurants.

Clarke said: "Horse racing is a real passion of mine and I am looking forward to working on all the great events we have got at the racecourse this year, particularly Royal Ascot and building on the hospitality side of the business to encourage more guests to come and enjoy one of the world’s greatest annual sporting events."
