The Argos Christmas Gift Finder is a web app that allows shoppers to determine gender, age and price.
The app will then display gift suggestions within those parameters, with the shopper pressing the left arrow key or right arrow key to indicate whether they like it.
The action of "liking" a gift does not necessarily mean users need to buy it. Instead, the gift app will register likes and dislikes to determine which products may be most appropriate.
The web app can be used across most smartphones, desktop PCs and tablets.
According to early stats from Argos, the web app has seen more than 300,000 visits after a soft launch, with the average visitor spending three minutes looking at gift suggestions.
Visitors swiped through more than 60 of the 6,000 possible gifts on show. It isn’t clear how this has converted into sales.
Argos has also included a game, called Friend or Fraud, with the app that allows users to log in via Facebook, build their own wishlists, then invite friends to guess which items they like or dislike.
The launch comes as part of Argos’ ongoing digital push, with the company earlier in time for Christmas.
