Islay single malt whisky brand Ardbeg is hosting a one-day festival in London with a Caribbean theme for this year's Ardbeg Day, the brand's annual celebration that traditionally marks the release of a new product.
Ardbeg is inviting whisky fans "to swap their flat caps for elaborate headdresses as we embrace a dash of carnival colour", with festivalgoers encouraged to build their own carnival float for a race, with the promise of "a spectacular moment at the finish line".
Food stations will feature classic Caribbean fare with a twist, such as jerk chicken, patties and ginger cake with coconut and pineapple frosting.
In addition, Ardbeg is promoting the new Ardbeg Drum – a single malt that has been rested in former rum casks from the Americas and featuring pine resin, wood smoke, banana and pineapple – that fans can try. There will also be a bar offering the entire range of Ardbeg flavours and cocktails.
Meanwhile, guests can take part in traditional games including tug of war, hula-hooping and coconut shy. As well as the London event, Ardbeg will be hosting similar festivals around the world on the same day. So far, Canada, Italy and New Zealand have been confirmed.
Ardbeg Day in the UK is taking place at York Lawns in London's Regent's Park on 1 June.
