Current architectural trends?

There are trends towards using environmentally-friendly materials and considering the lifespan of a building.

This has led to architecture that is adaptable with a light touch. A lot of UK architects are looking to Scandinavia for inspiration in terms of their appreciation for natural materials and simple design, but also with regard to how their buildings are focused on human interaction.

Future trends?

Architects are experimenting with prefabrication and new technologies. Recent advances in materials and manufacturing techniques are opening up possibilities. Things like laser cutting and 3D printing allow the architect to test out ideas and control the quality of the building design.

The Secret of good design?

Understand who you are designing for. The more you can understand them, how they live or work and how they use a space, the better the design will be.
