AOL promotes Morgan to global advertising role

NEW YORK - AOL has appointed Dave Morgan to the newly created post of executive vice president of global advertising strategy, just two months after his firm Tacoda was acquired by the internet giant.

Morgan founded online advertising specialist Tacoda, where he was chief executive officer and chairman, in 2001 and sold it to AOL in September this year.

His new role has been created to improve partnership working across markets and to recognise his experience in global online advertising.

Ron Gran, president and chief operating officer at AOL, who Morgan reports directly to, said: "He's a true visionary when it comes to the online advertising space, an adept strategist, and someone who knows how to grow a business.

"Dave will help us complete our transition to an ad-supported Web business, working with our programming, commerce, products and Platform-A teams to make sure everything we do supports our ad strategy, while looking for opportunities to grow our business here and abroad."

Prior to setting up Tacoda, Morgan also served as general counsel and director of new media ventures for the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association, where he was involved in the launch of a number of new media businesses in the early 90's.

He is also a board member of the Internet Advertising Bureau and the digital marketing board of the Direct Marketing Association's.
