The ISP has taken over from Freeserve in a deal that will see its software installed on PCs sold through Dixons Group's chains PC World, Currys and Dixons. AOL will also be promoted across all the stores and the retailers' pay-as-you-go internet service Netbreeze.
Karen Thomson, chief executive of AOL UK, said: "Internet consumers have become increasingly sophisticated and want to choose from a portfolio of leading products via a variety of channels to market. Dixons Group is a highly regarded and extremely efficient retailer -- adding AOL products creates a fantastic opportunity to meet the needs of this new generation of internet consumers."
Dixons said that AOL would take over from Freeserve as its preferred dial-up internet supplier last September. The ISP was reportedly in competition with BT to win the contract. AOL's broadband deal with Dixons comes into effect in 2005.
