ANV hires former Sydney Morning Herald publisher

LONDON – Alan Revell, former Sydney Morning Herald publisher, has joined Associated New Ventures, the digital division of Associated Newspapers, in the new role of chief operating officer.

The appointment bolsters the senior management team at ANV as the division continues to expand its portfolio of highly profitable media assets.

Revell, who joins from John Fairfax Holdings in Australia, where he worked for the last eight years in senior commercial and editorial roles, will oversee the development of a number of the standalone businesses, as well as identifying further acquisitions.

Prior to Fairfax, Revell spent 11 years at News Corp in editorial roles across national and regional Australian newspapers.

Andy Hart, managing director of ANV, said: "Alan will play an integral role in the continued growth of ANV as we build on the successes of Associated Newspapers, Jobsite and Findaproperty and look for more businesses to acquire. Alan has phenomenal experience from his time at Fairfax."

Revell said: "I'm looking forward to joining what I see as the most forward-thinking newspaper group in the UK.

"ANV has built and acquired an unrivalled collection of digital media assets giving the group a significant competitive edge and offering an attractive package to advertisers."
