Angus Porter leaves Thomas Cook marketing post

Porter joined the travel brand in April last year from WPP brand development consultancy Added Value in April last year.

He previously took on an independent non-executive director position at Thomas Cook in June 2007.

A Thomas Cook spokeswoman said the brand has no immediate plans to replace Porter. Instead, brand director Michael Johnson will take on a more wide-ranging marketing and strategy role.

Porter held the position of Mars UK marketing director until 1999, when he became marketing director for BT UK Markets.

Following a spell as managing director of BT Retail's consumer division, Porter joined Abbey National as customer propositions director, and oversaw the bank's relaunch as Abbey.

Thomas Cook recently appointed Campbell Lace Beta to its UK ad account, following a final pitch against Euro RSCG.

Red Brick Road produced Thomas Cook's latest ad campaign, which saw the return of the strapline ‘Don't book it - Thomas Cook it'.
