Andrew Crawley tipped for top British Airways marketing role

LONDON - British Airways is set to appoint its head of sales, Andrew Crawley, who is about to stand trial accused of price fixing offenses, according a report in the Financial Times.

Crawley is likely to absorb some of the marketing responsibilities vacated by the departure of head of marketing communications, Katherine Whitton. She is one of 450 senior managers to have taken voluntary redundancy, as the airline cuts costs following the difficult opening of Heathrow's Terminal 5 earlier this year.

BA declined to comment on the rumours, and said it would be ‘inappropriate' to do so while Crawley faced legal proceedings.

Crawley, along with three former BA executives - commercial director Martin George, head of communications Iain Burns, and head of UK and Ireland sales Alan Burnett - are accused of conspiring with rivals Virgin Atlantic to fix the price of fuel surcharges.
