LONDON - Ancestry.co.uk, the family history website, has called a pitch to find an agency to handle its UK advertising account through the AAR.

The company is looking to draw up a shortlist of agencies, with a pitch process to be held later this year. The successful agency will begin working with the company during the summer.

Bright, the incumbent on the account, will not repitch.

During its time working on the business, Bright created a high-profile direct response campaign aimed at raising the public's interest in their family's history.

Before working with Bright, Ancestry.co.uk worked with the direct marketing agency Claydon Heeley, which was responsible for launching the brand's first advertising campaign.

Ancestry.co.uk is currently the leading family history website in the UK, with more than 200,000 subscribers.

The site offers members access to more than 800 million UK historical records, and a further eight billion in its international collection.

News of the review comes after Ancestry.co.uk appointed Olivier Van Calster as its new managing director. Van Calster joined the company in December last year, from his role as the marketing director at eBay.

Van Calster said: "As Ancestry.co.uk continues to grow and the UK family history category becomes ever more buoyant, we have decided it is time for a fresh creative take on our brand."
