Allied Domecq marketing chief resigns after investigation

LONDON - Allied Domecq has confirmed the resignation of Kim Manley, its wine and spirits division chief marketing officer, after an investigation into financial irregularities.

Manley's departure follows an earlier suspension after an investigation into various financial irregularities.

As previously reported on Brand Republic, investigators were understood to be looking at the relationship of the marketing department with suppliers, including advertising agencies and research companies. The inquiry also looked into alleged expense account fraud.

In an official statement, Allied Domecq said: "Kim leaves his role with immediate effect and without compensation. An external search will be initiated for a successor."

Manley, 42, joined Allied Domecq from Diageo, where he was global brand director for Smirnoff. At Allied Domecq, he was responsible for reshaping and recentralising its marketing department, and the appointment of Publicis to the global brand accounts for Stolichnaya vodka, Beefeater gin and Kahlua.

Simon Stuart, senior vice-president for marketing, will oversee the 拢250,000 a year role until a successor is appointed.
