Until now, the company has used agencies based in Germany, where Allianz is headquartered. Phase 4 handles its global online advertising, while Modem Media's German office has provided consultancy services and metric evaluation in the past.
Allianz, which is Germany's second-biggest company, is now seeking an agency owned by an international network to help it strengthen its global presence. It is understood to be in talks with Omnicom and WPP-owned agencies about the brief.
The company, which operates in property and casualty, and life and health insurance as well as banking and asset management, is looking to establish a unified online presence globally. Agencies have also been asked to come up with creative ideas that could be used across its offline communications as well as online.
Last year, Allianz kicked off a search to establish a global advertising roster for its £60 million account. BBDO is the global incumbent; however, its position was threatened when Interpublic's FCB won the $15 million business in the Asia-Pacific region.
