LONDON - News International (NI) has appointed Alex Lewis, director of marketing for the BSkyB network, as marketing director for The Times and The Sunday Times.

Alex Lewis moves to Times role at News International

She will report to NI chief marketing officer Jeremy Schwartz.

Lewis was at BSkyB for three years, where she was respon-sible for campaigns across Sky1, Sky Arts, Sky Movies and Sky Box Office. Prior to this, she was marketing director at 118 118, where she engineered the brand's launch campaign.

She will work alongside Kathy McAllister, marketing director for News Group Newspapers, which comprises The Sun and News of the World. McAllister replaced Allen McCaskill, who left in May.

Lewis' appointment follows the promotion of Katie Vanneck to the role of manager of customer publishing.

Vanneck will head a department focusing on building
direct relationships with customers through products linked to the group's newspapers, such as Sun Bingo and The Times' Culture.

Last year, NI renewed its emphasis on marketing news titles The Times and The Sunday Times by promoting the quality of their journalism.
