Aldi has released a cheeky new Christmas ad that spoofs John Lewis' "man on the moon" campaign.
The TV spot for the budget supermarket opens on an old man (who looks a lot like the actor used in John Lewis' ad) sitting on a bench on the moon, comparing two telescopes – one from Aldi and one from John Lewis. As per Aldi's established advertising formula, the protagonist claims to like both items before tags appear that tell the difference in price between them. But when the old man peers through his telescope, he sees something he's over the moon with – a companion being floated to him with some balloons.
