AKQA Amsterdam bolsters position with senior staff hires

Digital agency AKQA Amsterdam has made a raft of senior hires and promoted Nick Bailey from creative director to executive creative director responsible for the creative output of the Amsterdam office.

Bailey's promotion follows six years at AKQA.

Joining the company as associate creative director is Jasper Mittelmeijer from Strawberryfrog Amsterdam, where he took charge of campaigns for clients such as Onitsuka Tiger, Asics, Panasonic, Hoegaarden and Opel.

He has also worked on projects for design agency Superheros and MTV Networks.

AKQA has also appointed Joris Hofstede to the same position of associate creative director. He joins from Amsterdam-based Qi-ideas where he established a design department within web design agency Strawberries, working on client business for Amstel, Niveau, KPN, and Heineken.

According to AKQA Amsterdam, Jasper and Joris have worked together on several occasions having first met at art school.

Daniel Bonner, chief creative officer at AKQA, said: "Jasper and Joris' skill sets complement each other perfectly, and there's great enthusiasm here that they have chosen to join AKQA.

"At the same time, AKQA congratulates Nick for his promotion, which celebrates the creativity and innovation he has championed since joining in 2004."

AKQA works for clients including Coca Cola, Gap, Kraft and Unilever.
