Agency.com lands Vertu digital brief

Agency.com has won the digital account for Vertu, the luxury mobile phone handset manufacturer, following a competitive pitch against the incumbent, The Wheel, and two other unnamed agencies.

As part of the win, Agency.com has redeveloped the Vertu.com website and has created an additional site for the launch of the company's special edition Ascent Pink phone.

David Eastman, the managing director of Agency.com, said: "Working with a luxury brand is an exciting challenge for us, and we're extremely pleased to be selected by Vertu as its agency of record."

Last week, the Nokia-owned Vertu appointed MediaCom to handle its global media planning and buying account.

WCRS continues to handle the £5 million global creative account. The agency picked up the business by winning a pitch against Mother and Quiet Storm in July 2004.

Nokia launched the upmarket handset in January 2002. Billed as "the world's most exclusive personal communication instrument", the phone comes with a concierge service and retails at £17,000. Vertu's Ascent Pink phone "for the stylish woman" launched in April this year.
