Agency Republic wins O2 Ireland after three-way pitch

The agency won a three-way pitch and will be responsible for online creative and media planning and buying.

The agency's first brief is to launch an online O2 shop. Agency Republic handled O2 UK's online customer acquisition programme for three years.

Initial communications will focus on the benefits of buying online and will promote exclusive handset offers.

Paul Farrell, the head of marketing at O2 Ireland, said: "We are delighted to build on the strong success Agency Republic has had supporting O2 in the UK by applying its knowledge and experience to deliver successful growth for our new online store."

Matt Kwiecinski, account director at Agency Republic, added: "We are extremely excited to be working with O2 Ireland. Ecommerce is growing rapidly in the Irish market -- a perfect environment in which to promote O2's exclusive handset offers and drive online mobile acquisition."

Mobile penetration in Ireland currently stands at 3.4m (87% of population). O2 has a 45% share of the Irish mobile market.
