The car manufacturer uses EHS Brann but the agency's three-year contract expires in September, when Peugeot will conduct a statutory review.
Although the process is in its early stages, Peugeot is understood to have contacted rival agencies with a view to taking part in a pitch.
EHS Brann retained the account when it was asked to repitch three years ago. It has a relationship with Peugeot going back to 1994.
Matt Atkinson, the EHS Brann chief executive, said: "We always go into a renegotiation (with Peugeot) over contracts and rates. It has to do a statutory review."
Peugeot Citroen is also looking to create a digital agency roster to work across the two car marques.
Peugeot's purchasing division confirmed it would be contacting agencies.
