Agencies line up as GLA invites tenders for media task

LONDON - The Greater London Authority is reviewing its media buying account. The London Mayor Ken Livingstone's body is looking for a new agency to handle buying across press, radio, outdoor, ambient media, television and cinema.

Buying for the GLA is currently handled by Pawson Media.

The GLA's tender is requesting responses from agencies by March 31. Its brief for the appointed shop is to act as a buying agency to procure one-off ads for specific public information drives across London media. Spend is likely to focus on press and cinema.

Specific activity mentioned includes press advertising in the Evening Standard, advertising on Capital Radio and 16-sheet London Underground advertising. The account does not cover GLA bodies such as Transport for London, which handles promotional activity for the London Underground and the Congestion Charge. PHD holds this account.

There is no media strategy element to the account and creative is also unaffected. GLA has used agencies including Soul and Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper for its campaigns.
