Aegis set to take majority of £50m Pernod Ricard media

LONDON - Pernod Ricard is believed to be close to awarding Aegis the majority of its £50m European media planning and buying business after a pitch.

Aegis, which owns Vizeum and Carat, competed against MediaCom and ZenithOptimedia in the review.

In all, the review covered six European markets including the UK, in addition to France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Ireland.

It is believed the £6m UK account has been retained by Aegis network Vizeum, the German account has been retained by sister network Carat, while ZenithOptimedia has held onto Spain.

Pernod's decision to review came just over a year after Vizeum won the UK business after a pitch was instigated by Pernod Ricard's acquisition of Allied Domecq. Vizeum managed to fight off the incumbent shops, ZenithOptimedia and Media Planning Group.

Pernod's brands include Jameson, Tia Maria, Martell and Jacob's Creek wines.
