Aegis to pay $31.5m for US e-commerce consultancy

LONDON - Aegis has agreed to buy US internet technology consulting company Molecular, which is the 11th acquisition to join its Isobar digital marketing network.

Aegis has acquired 100% of Molecular's equity for a total consideration of up to $31.5m (£16.6m) over two years.

Isobar was formed last summer and has grown with several acquisitions. Molecular is its second US acquisition after the search marketing agency iProspect, for which it paid £26m. It also has Carat Interactive and Freestyle Interactive in the US.

Robert Lerwill, CEO of Aegis, said: "Our clients will now have access to one of the leading web development and consulting businesses in the US with its powerful proprietary technology for e-commerce."

Molecular's services includes business process and digital strategy, internet development and implementation, user experience design, multi-site integration and multichannel integration consulting.

Ralph Folz, CEO of Molecular, said the deal would give the company an opportunity to take its approach out beyond the borders of the US, extending to Europe and Asia.

Molecular was founded in 1994 as Tvisions, and its clients include HP, Talbot's and Fidelity Investments. It is based in Watertown, Massachusetts.

Isobar is active in 27 markets and has a network of 52 offices.
