Aegis buys Scandinavian research network Univero for £10m

LONDON - Aegis has acquired Scandinavia's largest independent market research network Univero for £10m.

Univero is a full-service market research network. Its businesses include MMI Univero in Norway, Temo Univero and LUI Univero in Sweden, Vilstrup Univero in Denmark and Fieldwork Scandinavia.

Robert Lerwill, Aegis chief executive, said: "Adding Univero will give Synovate coverage in every significant European market. Entering the Scandinavian research market has been a priority for Synovate; we are now doing so as a major player."

Univero specialises in FMCG, food and drink, public sector, communications, media, youth and retail research. The various businesses will now become part of Aegis' research network Synovate.

Norway, Denmark and Sweden represent Europe's fifth-largest research market, with annual spend of around £282m. In 2004, Univero had total revenues of £23m.

"Univero is an attractive business in its own right, with a good presence and a blue-chip client list, both domestic and international.  Univero will also let us offer a full research service in Scandinavia to our clients elsewhere in the world," Lerwill added.
