The move next month will boost Vizeum, led by joint managing directors Matt Andrews and Grant Millar, from 65 to 90 employees and increase the agency's billings from £185m to over £200m.
Nigel Sharrocks, chief executive of Aegis Media UK, said the transfer of resources was motivated by the "rapidly evolving demands" of clients operating in one of the most digitally developed marketplaces in the world.
The team from Diffiniti already serviced Vizeum's clients, which include Halifax, Teletext, Coca-Cola, Coors, Eurostar and AOL UK, which was yesterday sold to Carphone Warehouse for £370m.
It will be led by Wood, currently joint managing director of Carat Digital, along with Henry Rowe. Wood has been made managing partner with a place on the Vizeum board and will report to Andrews and Millar.
Wood's arrival follows the recently revealed departure of Vizeum managing partner Neal Deeprose to join Accenture Marketing Services as an account director.
Andrews said: "Digital isn't a channel. It's a set of new audience behaviours, demands and expectations that are having an impact across all media. To connect, we are changing the way we think and work."
The new structure follows Vizeum's appointment earlier this year of Emma Batchelor from Agency Republic as digital strategist.
