Boothby made head of global trading at new Aegis unit

LONDON - Chris Boothby, Vizeum global investments director, has been appointed head of global trading for a new unit within media network Aegis called Aegis Investment Management, incorporating the Carat and Vizeum networks.

Boothby will take on the responsibilities of Steve Platt, former head of trading for Aegis Media Europe, who moved to take the head of trading role for Aegis Media in the UK.

Platt replaced Mark Jarvis, the former head of trading who left the network to join media independent the7stars, founded by former Carat managing director Colin Mills and former Carat marketing director Jenny Biggam.

Boothby will be tasked with tying up European deals for clients across the network and creating international buying cooperation across territories. He will be based at the London headquarters of Carat.

Boothby is a former operations director at the Vizeum network. He headed up the agency along with Trista Grant, who was formerly managing director of the agency and now takes the role of non-executive chairman.

Vizeum was created out of media network BBJ in 2003 and handles clients such as BMW, Coca-Cola and utilities firm Npower.

Aegis confirmed that Boothby would be taking the expanded buying role.
