Cordiant Communications, which began to slide on Monday after it suffered a shares downgrade at the end of last week, started the week at 155p and had fallen 129p during afternoon trading today.
Chime Communications, which opened the week at 137.5p fell slightly during the week, but was beginning to recover today on the back of good interim results, rising 0.4% on yesterday's close, to 134.5p.
Marketing and communications company Incepta is down 4.4% on the day to 43p. Its fortunes appear to be reversing slightly compared to Monday, when it tumbled 7.6% to 42.5p - one of the advertising sector's biggest fallers.
Aegis fell 6.8% to 82.25p today, after seeing its shares climb slightly on Wednesday when ABN AMRO lowered its profit forecasts. The company has committed to fight to remain independent after speculation that it might be a possible takeover target for the loser in the battle for media buying company Tempus Group.
As the battle rages for Tempus, shares in the media buying agency were up by 0.1% in the middle of the afternoon in London. WPP Group is down 8.1% to 531p today from 639.50p on Monday. Its slide began after news broke that it was about to release the details of its Tempus bid in its offer document.
French group Havas Advertising, the other predator in the battle, slid 2.7% to 7.30 (£4.56). Havas was trading at 8.63 (£5.32) at the close of play on Monday. Its French counterpart Publicis fell 5.2% to 18.21 (£11.4) today, despite releasing a slight increase in half-year profits.
In the TV sector, the ITV companies continued to take a pounding as despair surrounding the advertising prospects grew. The commercial sector's woes will not have been helped by the news that the BBC has been given the go-ahead for nearly all its desired digital services. Some believe the services will encroach on the commercial sector.
Carlton, which heard this week that it is to be kicked out of the FTSE 100, saw its shares fall 9.1% at the time of writing to 213.50p. Granada fell 3% to 106p on the day and BSkyB fell 3.6% to 630.50p this afternoon.
In publishing the Daily Mail & General Trust was down 8.9% to 543p - down by around 40p from its price of 582p on Monday. Magazine and radio group Emap is down 3.7% today to 632.50p and United Business Media, which narrowly escaped ejection from the FTSE 100, is down 4% to 499.5p on the day.
