This morning, ITV company Carlton Communications was revealed to be in danger of being expelled from the FTSE 100, which reviews its index of blue-chip shares next week, as its share price fell to an eight-year low.
Carlton's share price stood at 287.7p when the markets opened. In afternoon trading, it lost another 6.2%, falling to 270p.
Hard hit was marketing services company Incepta, which owns financial PR agency Citigate Dewe Rogerson -- its stock dropped 9.5%, falling to 47.5p from last night's close of 52.5p.
WPP Group was down 5.8% to 640p from last night's close of 679.5p. Its share price has recently been as high as 720p and has continued to shift up and downwards as the battle for Tempus group is played out.
Carat's parent company, Aegis Group, which might find itself the subject of a WPP bid should Tempus go to Havas Advertising, dropped 8.8% to 100.2p, losing all the ground it made up recently. Its stock has been as high as 117p in the last few weeks.
Even Tempus, which has remained largely static of late, fell slightly, down from this morning's opening price of 580p to 577.5p.
Reuters was also down significantly, losing 5.9% to 710p. United Business Media fell 1.5% to 542p, and the company is set to exit the FTSE 100. Granada's share price also fell, down 1.5% to 136.7p.
