Trinity Mirror said its regional newspaper business division is expected to achieve advertising revenue growth of 6% or 5.5% excluding digital media.
In a trading statement issued ahead of meetings with analysts, it said all categories within its regional operations have shown good growth, with particularly strong performance from its recruitment advertising business.
At its national newspaper business, it said advertising revenue growth was expected to be 2.7% year on year, reflecting a 2.6% increase in the UK national titles and a 3% increase for the Scottish national titles, which include the Daily Record.
Overall circulation is expected to increase by 6.2% year on year, but Trinity Mirror said that while circulation revenues have increased across the board, it described the poor performance of the Daily Mirror in May as "disappointing".
The Daily Mirror is suffering in the wake of the scandal where it accused British troops of abusing Iraqi prisoners by running a set of fake photographs that purported to show British soldiers torturing Iraqis.
The scandal cost editor Piers Morgan his job and saw him replaced by Sunday Mirror deputy editor Richard Wallace. ABC figures showed that sales of the Mirror for May were down to 1,846,734, compared with 1,888,145 in April -- a drop of 2.19%.
Its regional newspapers showed circulation growth of 3.9%, while overall the nationals put on 6.6%.
