The news comes as British Gas, the UK's biggest-energy supplier, has agreed to join the line-up of speakers at the event, to be held on 9 November in London.
Acxiom and the Green Conference "share a common ethos," according to Acxiom's group leader of multi-industry sectors, Keith Jones.
"It's the ethos that direct marketing can be done in a more efficient way, tailored to the consumer's interests, and also taking into account the environmental impact," said Jones. "The industry can, and should be, doing a lot more to ensure we achieve this goal."
He added that as one of the biggest suppliers of data to the DM industry, Acxiom "has a responsibility to drive this and, by supporting this conference, we are hoping to send out this message to clients, suppliers and agencies alike".
DM services supplier GI Solutions has signed up as a conference session sponsor.
Leading the speaker line-up is Justin Basini, vice president of brand marketing, Capital One Europe, who will talk about the bank's green initiatives.
Jane Bednall, head of brand and marketing communications at British Gas, will reveal how the energy provider is marketing its green products and services.
At a client procurement session, the COI's director of direct marketing Marc Michaels will give agencies and suppliers tips on how they should present green credentials to clients.
Acxiom will take part in the debate on which sector is best placed to drive DM's green agenda: agencies, data services providers, clients or trade associations.
