Next year's MTV Europe Music Awards are to be held at the ACC Liverpool on 6 November.
MTV's Richard Godfrey said: "ACC Liverpool is the perfect venue for such a large-scale multi-platform event and will give us the opportunity to bring newer and more exciting elements to next year's show.
"Not only is (Liverpool) the City of Culture in 2008 but the influence of its rich musical heritage is still felt today."
The venue's general manager, Jacquie Rogers, said: "It is a testament to the outstanding offer that ACC Liverpool represents."
