Under the six-figure deal, booked by MediaCom, the breakfast show team will broadcast from an ex-Royal Naval ship for the week beginning 30 March, to promote the Richard Curtis film about pirate radio in the 1960s.
The team will begin under the Millennium Bridge in Newcastle on Monday and then sail down the east coast to Whitby for Tuesday's show. The ship will sail to Grimsby on Wednesday, Lowestoft on Thursday and, finally, reach the Thames for Friday's show.
The promotion will include an hour-long one-off show dedicated to 60s music, presented by Nick Frost and Chris O'Dowd from 7pm to 8pm on Friday 3 April.
Chris Goldson, commercial content director at Absolute radio, said the campaign demonstrated the "creativity that radio affords advertisers".
Shephali Patel, marketing director at Universal Pictures said the company was looking for breakthrough ideas and this innovative promotion would effectively reach a core audience for the film with a message that is "tightly linked" to the film's core themes.
