The tender for ‘the provision of special events services' is in fact targeted at electrical suppliers and facilities management services for events and crime scene analysis.
"It's caused some confusion. We've had events organisers ringing up saying that they think they could do the work, but we have to tell them that it is not suitable," said Metropolitan Police tenders officer Graham Colledge.
Applications are now closed for the tender, which will include provision of soft furniture for use at Metropolitan Police events.
