250 stations sign up to UK Music Week

LONDON - More than 250 commercial radio stations are set to take part in UK Music Week at the end of May with a series of special programming across five networks.

The RadioCentre today unveiled details of the schedule, which will run from 21-28 May and is designed to promote the best of UK music.

Exclusive sessions, artist interviews and specialist shows will take place with artists including Amy Winehouse, Mika, Paulo Nutini and Travis as well as a collection of documentaries on the Gold network that will offer listeners insight from a number of artists into what made them write their most classic tracks.

Andrew Harrison, chief executive of The RadioCentre, described it as a "great week to tune into commercial radio."

There will be shared programming taking place across the five networks championing the best of UK music and some smaller local stations will be hosting community events.

Friday, 25 May will see the networks only play UK music. Emap TV will also be supporting the event with a week of programming on music channels Q and The Hits.
