Yahoo! hunts best amateur yodeller to appear in TV ad

NEW YORK – Swiss-Americans are on alert as Yahoo! launches a nationwide search for America's best amateur yodeller, who will star in a TV ad for the internet company.

Like Intel, Yahoo! is unusual for having an aural logo, as well as having a visual one. Yahoo!, however, recently ran into problems with the yodeller who originally recorded the logo. Wylie Gustafson sued the company after earning only $560 for his voice.

Murray Gaylord, vice-president of marketing for Yahoo!, said that the yodel was an "anthem" for the fun experience that people want on the internet.

"Our search for America's favourite amateur yodeller gives everyone a chance to express their enthusiasm for the distinctive spirit that Yahoo! represents by sharing their vocal talents," said Gaylord.

Events will be held in eight cities throughout the US including New York City, Kansas City and Austin, with three semi-finalists being chosen at each. These 24 finalists will then be awarded $10,000 and will appear in a television ad for Yahoo!.

The internet company has also promised to donate $10 for every participant in the auditions to the charity Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
