Chappaz, founder of online shopping comparison service Kelkoo, which Yahoo! acquired for €475m in March, has decided to take a year's sabbatical, despite only taking charge of the portal's European business in October.
Yahoo! Europe does not plan to replace him directly. Instead it has promoted chief operating officer Dominique Vidal, who was at Kelkoo with Chappaz, to regional vice-president and managing director of Europe.
Vidal and Chappaz were brought in as a team to replace Mark Opzoomer, who quit earlier this year.
