LONDON (Brand Republic) - Yahoo! has won a cybersquatting case against a man from Uruguay who registered the name domain name Yahoo.com.uy for his website on dogs.
The World Intellectual Property Organisation ruled that the names yahooemail.net, yahoochat.net, yahoofree.net and yahoofree.com should be given to internet portal company Yahoo!.
They were registered by Jorge Kirovsky of Colonia, Uruguay, and linked to his website on pets. Kirovsky claimed that Yahoo was a common name for a dog in Uruguay.
