Xfm drivetime slot up for grabs as Bacon departs

LONDON - Xfm's drivetime host Richard Bacon is to leave the station at the end of the month.

According to the station, the DJ is leaving to pursue other projects. He has spent four years at GCap Media, mostly at Xfm but with a stint in Capital Radio's drivetime slot between May 2005 and August last year.

Adam Uytman, Xfm programme director, said: "We're sad to see Richard go but in the four years that he's been here he's made some great radio and we wish him all the luck in the future."

Bacon's last show is on March 30. No replacement has been revealed.

Bacon replaced Lucio, who moved to Capital drivetime show. Xfm morning DJ Lauren Laverne had previously occupied the drivetime slot prior to that.

Bacon is the second DJ that the alternative music station has recently lost. Shaun Keaveny left Xfm in January , where he was yesterday named as the station's breakfast show host.
